The Concept of Healthy Living, or What Is It?

A healthy lifestyle (HLS) is a human skill that consists in the ability to perform specific actions (or, conversely, to refuse to perform them) aimed at maintaining and improving one’s health and preventing disease.

Disease prevention is a system of measures to prevent or eliminate the causes of disease. There are different levels of prevention: primary prevention is a system of measures to eliminate causes and factors of diseases, secondary prevention is the prevention of disease progression, and tertiary prevention is the prevention of disease recurrence. It is customary to consider primary prevention as part of a healthy lifestyle.

To be able to lead a healthy lifestyle means to have special knowledge about what is healthy and what is not, how to discipline oneself, to choose the right regime of the day, and also to follow special procedures and eat healthy food.

Why lead a healthy life?

We all have our own physical and mental characteristics, some of which are passed down to us on a genetic level. Someone, without doing any physical exercises and special dietary recommendations, always stays in good shape, someone is not prone to colds and cannot catch colds in winter, someone is able to sleep for 4 hours a day and stay awake. All these abilities are more exceptions to the rule, peculiar to only some people. And we can certainly say that there is no perfectly healthy person in the world who has all of the above qualities. That is why it is important for us to know our weaknesses and be able to take all necessary measures to prevent illnesses. This is the role of a healthy lifestyle.

Applying the knowledge of a healthy lifestyle can be useful to anyone in a variety of situations, for example, it will allow:

  • Raise children correctly – parents, teachers, educators and teachers.
  • Live longer and feel better – for absolutely everyone.
  • Not to ruin your health in your youth – to everyone who studies hard behind the student’s bench, and who works tirelessly to climb the career ladder.
  • To organize events and make the right decisions – to those who have to do with the organization of human activities (e.g., an employer, a school principal, or a university rector).

It is worth noting that the culture of HLS affects the quality of life of any person, which is associated with the achievement of longevity, the ability to fully perform social functions and actively participate in family, labor, social life of society.
