Swallow Studies
Modified Barium Swallow (MBS)
This is a videofluoroscopic study done with a radiologist and a speech language pathologist which assesses the oral, pharyngeal, and laryngeal structures and their function during swallowing; may incorporate modifications in bolus size, texture, patient positioning, and use of compensatory maneuvers. May be essential to determine potential treatment approaches and reduction of threat of aspiration.
