Adventist Health Foundation Celebrates Community Philanthropy Heroes
Adventist Health Foundation will honor community heroes on Thursday, October 25 at the Heroes of the Heart Gala at the The Nines Hotel.
2012 Heroes of the Heart winners are:
Sue Piazza, creator of the Fabulous Fifty Project, wanted to do something meaningful for children in her community and began a mission that led to the “Fabulous Fifty Project” where she raised $10,000 gifts for 5 organizations serving kids to celebrate her 50th birthday.
Wendell White, chairman of Generations LLC, has provided 60 years of service to seniors, their families, employees, and the communities in which he has lived and worked. His outstanding leadership as chair of Adventist Health’s Chaplain Campaign raised $6.2 million to fully endow Adventist Health’s chaplain department.
Bess Wills, general manager of Gresham Ford is passionate about giving to her community, and helping small organizations all over the city is her obsession. Wills is legendary for her service to the community serving on numerous non-profit, professional and community service organization boards.
The inaugural Heroes of the Heart Gala will benefit Adventist Medical Center’s new and innovative Heart to Home Transitional Care program, designed to support patients through their recovery by providing meaningful, personal, support when they return home from their hospital stay.
The keynote speaker of the Gala is Stacy Allison, the first American woman to summit Mount Everest. Allison, will share her extraordinary journey to reach the top of the world. KGW news anchor, Joe Donlon, will serve as the evening’s master of ceremonies. Major sponsors for the gala include Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon, Generations LLC, and PKA Architects.
The event begins with a reception on October 25 at 6:00 PM followed by the dinner and program at the Nines Hotel, 525 SW Morrison, Portland, Oregon.
